Can You Rotate Buildings in Moon Sweepers? Controls and Limits

Quick answer

The 1.0.4 build does not expose a confirmed rotate or move control for an already placed building. The current control data also lists no rotate binding for the build preview. Player reports from 24–26 October found no way to turn or move structures without demolishing them. The practical answer is to check orientation before spending and rebuild if it is wrong.

Large structures are expensive to place and return only part of their price when removed.

Placement controls in 1.0.4
ActionStatusWhat to do instead
Rotate before placementNo documented rotate binding in the current control data.Check the build preview and the game's Controls screen; set merger/splitter landing with the wheel.
Rotate a placed structureNo confirmed controlRemove and rebuild, or reload a save from before placement.
Move a placed structureNo confirmed controlRebuild. There is no cut-and-paste building action in the checked controls.
Change a merger or splitter outputScroll wheel changes the landing direction during placement.Set it before confirming; this is not a building rotation.

Adjust placement heightNo documented control; player reports mention terrain height problems.Clear or level the ground first; test the approach slope before placing a garage.

Placement check

A placement check that saves a rebuild

  1. Look at the ground around the site. Ramps, slopes and loose capsules can block a vehicle or a belt run.
  2. Identify the machine's input and output side before placing it. The build preview is the only orientation step.
  3. Place a short test belt from the output toward the intended station or next machine.
  4. For a Garage, test that a vehicle can drive out and onto the collector pad without a slope problem.
  5. Save or take a backup before demolishing a high-value structure. The 1.0.4 backups are stored outside Steam Cloud.
  6. If the orientation is wrong, remove the piece and rebuild. Do not expect a rotate button to appear later in the same session.

Patch history

What 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 changed

Patch 1.0.3 allowed pressure chambers, stone presses and garages to stand across several foundations. It also fixed splitters and mergers snapping port-to-port and allowed a carried capsule to be placed onto a belt. These changes reduce placement friction; they do not add a rotate command for a structure that is already built.

Patch 1.0.4 fixed foundations next to ramps, machines failing to build when snapped side by side, and capsules falling beneath foundations after belts were removed. Those fixes matter before a rebuild, but they do not change the 75% removal rate.

Recovery

If you already placed it wrong

Remove the structure while its hopper is empty and its belts are disconnected. Rebuild in the correct orientation, then reconnect the belts. For a Garage, park the vehicles outside and empty the silo first. The 1.0.3 patch fixed garage deletion of vehicles, but a clean removal is still the lower-risk path.

Questions about this task

Can you rotate buildings in Moon Sweepers?

No confirmed rotate control exists for a placed building in the checked 1.0.4 data. Merger and splitter landing direction can be changed with the scroll wheel during placement, but that is not the same as rotating a whole structure.

Does “no confirmed control” mean rotation is impossible?

It means this guide could not verify a control. The current data and player reports do not document one. If the game shows a rotate prompt in a later build, that prompt is the authority; record the version.

What is the G key for?

The documented field control is the region scan: G shows the sector you are standing in, its edges and its cleaning percentage. Builder footage also uses G for a build grid, so the key can be context-sensitive. Check the Controls screen in your build.
